Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

I love chipotle...(ordinarily) But I ate at the college park location on 1/6/15 and have been in the bed ever since then.... I won't say it's food poisoning, but it sure does feel like it....I feel awful....never again... The girl washed her hands, put on gloves...and then proceeded to fussing with the register person about bags....with gloves on.... In addition the food wasn't hot....wth....I know I could've dedlined service....I should have....but my stomach is made of steel....I never get sick....I didn't think twice about them fussing over bags on the floor....I know smh at myself....

The burrito bowls are big enough for two meals and they're only $8 You can expect a huge line if you go during peak lunch or dinner hours, but the counter is so well-staffed that it goes by very quickly. I've been standing in a line that extends out the door and still ordered in less than 15 minutes. Speak loudly and clearly when placing your order and you should have no problems. And if you want more beans or whatever, just say so! Don't expect to get tons of individual attention from the employees because they're working with the same goal as you in mind - super speedy, yummy food delivery. PS they are also great for catering and fundraisers. They are a popular choice among university organizations for these purposes.

This is hands down the best Chipotle I have ever been to. Back when I was a student at UMD, I would go to this Chipotle once a week. The lines here are the longest I have ever seen, but this Chipotle is extremely quick and efficient and the line never takes long (except on Halloween!) I've found that the quality of ingredients here are higher than the Chipotles I've been to in NY. Whenever I'm back in town I make sure to stop at this Chipotle!

What's not to love about eating burrito the size of a baby filled with wonderful spices and textures? This Chipotle is the run of the mill store--sparse on decor, pretty minimalist, etc. But let's be honest, no one comes to Chipotle for the ambiance, they come for the delicious Mexican food. I've found that the service at this location is a hit or miss depending on the employee. Some skimp but honestly, don't feel bad asking for a bit more if you truly feel they are cheating you out of the proper amount. For the most part the food here is pretty consistent which is what I look for in fast food joints. It's the perfect stop off campus for your Mexican fix but be warned that this place can be packed during lunchtime.

OK, so it's Chipotle. So I really don't need to review this place... except that this one has such inconsistent food and service. Some days, you know like those in the yesteryear and the occasional, oh, Jerry the good cook came today, the food is Chipotle standard, but most others, you are better off going to Taco Bell. The service is the same. There are those on the line, especially the guy on the bowl or tortilla, he is awesome. And the chick who takes your money, highly efficient. Everyone in the middle though, can they just tap out? One day, I even saw the guys on the back row (cooks and such) throwing food at each other. Not cool guys, not cool.

All Chipotles are pretty much the same. The reason I am reviewing this particular one is the staff...they are phenomenal. Today I ordered a catered lunch for 14 people. When I picked it up 20 minutes after ordering they had EVERYTHING correct. Every single order was right. I was amazed. They even helped me fill all the sodas and carry everything to my car. I am really impressed with the level of customer service this crew provides their customers.

Cheap, filling, delicious, makes you fart a lot. IT'S A CHIPOTLE YEAHHHHH Really close to campus. Portions are decent. The workers are really efficient so even if the line seems long fear not, you will be eating your lime-juice (OR IS IT IT'S SO ADDICTIVE)-laced rice and beans soon enough.

Let me start by saying this location is next to UMD. So it's full of college students day and night and more employees look to be that age too. Not chipotle's fault but it does effect the ambience/ lack there of. The line at this place is almost always to the door. So it's hard to say there is a better time to go. Just except a serious wait anytime near a usual meal time. The line moves at a snails pace. And there are college students been loud and depending on the time of day obviously drunk. As you creep up to the counter, now ravenously hungry your probably like me - sure excited. You place your order eyes a glow. And suddenly they give you a 1/2 of scoop of rice and you and your starving self are disappointed. I ask for more and the "extra" I get is even less then the 1st. Like I'm taking from their personal stash. So now annoyed and hungry I move quickly down the line. Why did it take so long to get here? Pay for my order and sit down with my small burrito. Better to skip the line and headache and head over to a different location.

I asked for a burrito bowl, tortilla on the side. The lady didn't bother to give me a tortilla. Then I asked for fajitas and she said "it will be about 5 minutes." This is despite the fact that there were still enough left to put into my bowl. 15 seconds later, the fajita bowl was filled and the employee didn't bother to put any on even though I had just asked for them. They then have the nerve to put a few drops (altogether not per each topping) of toppings onto my bowl despite me requesting 6 different toppings. Essentially, I just paid $7 for a few bites of food because of the complete incompetence of the employees. Screw this location!!!!!!!!!!!!
(1)Mark C.
Poor customer service. They will be very shy on the ingredients. If u ask for rice, they give you a third of a full scoop. Meat is very poor.
(1)Sandra W.
As some others have said, this Chipotle location definitely leaves a lot to be desired. The parking situation and the lines at lunchtime can be insane. I can understand that this is a popular restaurant, but when you get to the front to place your order, the scene explains why the line is so long. The turnover at this location is very high and the training seems to be lacking. There appears to be lots of confusion. The amounts you're given vary wildly from visit to visit. As soon as you get used to certain amounts of ingredients, someone new is working at the counter and everything changes. The tomato salsa is consistently not drained, so you're getting a 1/4 cup of pure liquid in your bowl, which soaks through the bag by the time you get back to work (or wherever). The third star is purely for the fact that I can't get enough of the incredible Chipotle chicken. I've tried countless times to replicate it at home. If I could, I'd take back one of the stars and save $7 at lunchtime. I'd like to say that I won't be back, but being the hungry Chipotle sucker that I am, I know I will.

Unfortunately I have to agree with Jen. F. And I really feel that I have to put in my $.02 because there are quite a few dissenting opinions regarding this place. This is pretty much one of the worst Chipotle establishments that I have been to. I think that the fundamental problem is that the staff are not able to maintain quality when faced with many customers. The problem has become systemic and instead of the quality dropping just when there are long lines, the quality and attention to detail are consistently low. In particular I feel that the taste of the food suffers because of sloppy assembly, and also because of hastily prepared constituent components. And the most egregious errors are made with the rice, which, let's face it, is pretty much the backbone of everything that they make except for quesadillas (which are special order anyway). The rice here simply doesn't taste the same as the rice at other chipotle restaurants. The easiest way to describe it would be to say that it has much less flavor, specifically, that it is less salty and tastes diluted and sort of watered down. This effectively ruins any burrito or bowl made using the rice, regardless of the quality of the other ingredients. With regard to lack of attention to detail, I will say the following two things, though there are many more areas that I could comment on (some of which have been addressed in other reviews). First, why put scoops of mostly bean liquid without many beans into a burrito? Don't you figure that that will result in a soggy burrito? Or don't you care? Secondly, if your going to offer a vegetarian protein (the so-called sofritos) shouldn't you take some care to make sure that meat doesn't fall into the container, this issue goes beyond just contamination, I've actually seen them serve pork into a veggie bowl. I'm not vegetarian, but imagine how the recipient of that bowl felt! To top it all off, the lines are always ridiculously long at reasonable meal times plus and minus 2 hours, so pretty much any time you may wish to eat. I guess that is not their fault, one way to overcome this issue would be to order ahead online so you can skip the line.

So I work in the area and it is a short walk to Chipotle from my office. I have been going there regularly for the past 7 months. Sometimes twice a week. The food is consistently excellent. Where my problem with them lies is primarily the dwindling portions but also the lack of good service. I went today and watched two different people get the same meal and one got 2 spoons of rice, the other 1. The one gentleman got very little veggies and the other much more. I inquired about this and I am not even sure if the server understood what I was asking. I got a blank look and a mumbled "no". Another gentleman asked for cheese and it never made it onto his burrito. I asked him and said that it was no big deal. I had to request additional veggies as well. This has been the case for at least the past 2 months. I think I am going to be visiting this place less and less. There are tons of other places to eat in this area or maybe I will just switch to PB&J and save some money.

This location needs to double check the food!! I have never been to a Chipotle where everything was greasy and made me sick on my stomach!! The lettuce was wilted and everything else was just greasy. Yuck!!!
(1)John G.
Always have had a positive experience with this Chipotle -- even when it's crowded they move you through the line as quickly as possible.

This place is just like any other Chipotle but the customer service was not good and the portions were small. Employees are college kids who don't care about serving you and my burrito came out to be half the size of the one of any other Chipotle I've been to.
(2)Q L.
Good chipotle, doesn't skimp on portions. Convenient and close to campus. Only problem I have with them is that you have to pay for parking in their lot....
(4)Jake K.
Chipotle is Chipotle is Chipotle...until you get to CP. A couple of observations (bulletized since it's almost 1am and I should have been two eyes shut and ten toes up over an hour ago): 1. You have to pay for parking. At a damn strip mall??? And there is a CP meter maid who makes her rounds through the parking lot constantly so you can't get over on anything. Just pay the $0.75 per hour and avoid the ticket. 2. They're cheap on the meat. Not sure why, but the guy was very measured in how much barbacoa he gave me. Great if you're a student, not if you're there for a conference. I'd stick with Potbelly.
(3)Jen F.
The Chipotle of College Park is one of the poorer Chipotles of the world. If you go around normal eating times, there is always a huge line. The people working there take the assembly line quickness concept to a whole new level. They will throw that burrito down the line and skimp on the meat along the way. And heaven forbid you ask them to mix your burrito ingredients, you will get a dirty look 50% of the time and a blank stare followed by a brief pause (perhaps indicating a language barrier?) the other 50%. This place is good for people who have a couple of minutes to wait on line and want a large, filling meal. I prefer California Tortilla any day over Chipotle. They have more options, and simply put, better quality food. Also, I think it's worth mentioning that my friend got severe food poisoning from here (she got chicken). Eater beware!
(2)Sonja R.
If you're looking for fast fresh food, this is the place. The line us usually at least 20 deep but moves very fast. The staff is very friendly and really good at keeping the line moving along.
(5)LaToya E.
This location is always busy and I always have to shout my order 2-3 times but hey, at the end of the day its still Chipotle so no major complaints from me.
(3)Laura P.
The line is always out the door. Always. But the service is quick and the food is always delicious. It's usually pretty clean inside, but who really cares about the scenery when you have an amazing Chipotle burrito (or bowl) in front of you?
(4)Charles C.
What would I do for lunch if it wasn't for Chipotle? For Fall 2009 semester I ate at Chipotle at least once a week, sometimes twice a week. I always came just after lunch so the lines were very short and it wasn't busy. Random Tips to Maximize Food: - Get a burrito bowl and ask for tortilla on the side. - Ask for more rice after they put the first scoop. - Ask for half of one meat and half of another meat (unless you really want just one type of meat). Most of the time you get more meat this way. - Same as the rice. Ask for more corn or lettuce after the first scoop. I always use those tips and I'm never left hungry for my next lectures + lab.

Chipotle is my favorite restaurant. I come to this location all the time. Let's talk about specifics. The ingredients are hardly different than any other location I've attended. I get good treatment by the staff and they keep most of the areas relatively clean. They respect my SNB burrito. The bathrooms could be much cleaner, and the water pressure/hand blower pressure could be adjusted. They could stand to take out their trash much more often. There is no excuse for overflowing trash cans. This Chipotle does not feel comfortable or nice, it does not have a great outdoor seating area (1 table), and most places to sit will be swamped at lunchtime. You also have to pay for parking. There are better Chipotle locations throughout the US, but without question, come here if you're a CP student. Through it all, I love this place so much.
(3)K S.
I honestly have never had a problem with this location. Like most of the other chipotle locations I've been to, sometimes they give you a great portion, sometimes I don't. If I feel like I'm being cheated, I just ask for a little more. There's a line often times, but at least that means the food is fresh! This is just a regular ol chipotle in my opinion. Oh! And it's the cheapest one I've been to this far.
(3)Kat L.
I love you chipotes. Just not this location. The food here is fine and consistent with chipotle (except the portion = tiny) A week does not pass that I don't eat at a chipotle. I went to this particular one after a UMD game, and I have never seen a grumpier crowd working. The girl grabs a tortilla steams it and asks me bean options... gluten free, we dont do tortillas darling. And she's scoffing at me?... give me a break. Small portions, which is not what chipotle is about, is what we got. I almost always have to take half home. This time I ate the whole thing. Which is incredible. If you're a chipotle lover, go for it as long as you don't mind the side of grumps.
(2)Jesus J.
I constantly feel like the only person on the planet who doesn't like Chipotle...at all. And I love Mexican food! Even though the review is written for the College Park location, I've been to many different locations and this review encapsulates all of them. The only thing I didn't like about the CP location is they tend to skimp out on the meat portions unlike other locations. Don't get me wrong, I love burritos, but Chipotle is lacking some serious flavor. The rice is horrible - barely any flavor except for a hint of lemon and tons of butter. The meat tends to be dry and isn't good quality. The different burrito and taco toppings are typical: corn, salsa, etc. The beans are pretty flavorless as well. The chips are tasty, but they cost extra. Qdoba is an alternative to Chipotle, but the meats, rice, and everything else tastes exactly the same (as if it's run by the same company). The difference I've found with Qdoba vs. Chipotle is you can get different kinds of burritos from Qdoba, such as a queso burrito (picture a Chipotle burrito topped with melted cheese). There is a burrito place that I do like, but it is about a half an hour drive from CP (assuming no traffic). It's called Surfside and it's located on Wisconsin Ave. NW in the district. They have better quality stuff with more interesting toppings (like pineapples). In conclusion, I think any burrito you can make at home will be packed with a lot more flavor, be tastier, and healthier than Chipotle's burritos.
(2)Fina A.
Yay for Burrito, but I can't say much on this one, or should I just copy-paste my review on Qdoba Mexican Grill here? Because for me they are the same. But well, I prefer Qdoba with their half-price-burrito-every-Wednesday meal. When you go to these two places, just always, always, expect a huge line. I don't know when their not-too-long line is, so yea.
(3)Gina K.
Wow really? I'm not trying to troll or anything, because I really wanted to like this particular Chipotle -- given that it's near campus. And, come on, it's Chipotle! I've been several times and started to notice a weird pattern. The previous posts about "skimpy food" and "small portions" couldn't be more true. The reason why you get "less" food in your burrito/bol is because you're not ordering in Spanish. Yes, you read that correctly. You don't have to be Hispanic to get more food. You just need to order in Spanish and they'll give more than if you were to order in English. Don't believe me? Try it for yourself. I wouldn't be writing this if it wasn't true. Oh by the way, if you order in Spanish, they're NOT grumpy. Sorry, Chipotle but I think I'll be taking my $8 bucks elsewhere :)
(1)Shine S.
I like the rice (not cause I'm asian) but it has a lime/cilantro type flavor. Overall, it is great for the price, select pork, beef, chicken (chicken is my favorite) It's pretty consistent around the board, all the Chipotles everywhere that I've been.
(4)Josh L.
I must say, this chipotle disappointed me. I am an avid chipotle goer and I have found myself getting 2 burritos in a day. I frequent the Chipotle in Silver Spring and am always satisfied there. While in College Park, I saw a chipotle nearby and had to get a burrito. I always get double chicken and a bunch of other stuff, so usually my burrito is about the size of a newborn. At the chipotle in CP, however, the line was long as usual and it seemed like the workers just wanted to get out of there. They would heat up the wraps like 3 or 4 at a time, lay some rice out and wait for you to get there to add meat and topings. Not only did this lead to a cold and kind of chewy wrap, but there was about half the amount of rice as usual! Every time I get my burrito, it's always a little bit of a challenge for them to wrap it, and the tin foil just barely touches. This time, my burrito was about half the size and the quality was simply lacking. I'm sorry Chipotle, you know I love you but sometimes it's just the employees that give you a bad name.
(2)Kate S.
This Chipotle is fast and the people are friendly. Make sure they ring you up right when they are busy! They overcharged me by $2.25 for my takeout order today. However, when I faxed them the receipt and our original order back, they called us later in the afternoon to say they'd give us a free meal next time we come in. Great!!
(4)Molly R.
Four stars for good guacamole, naturally raised meat (even though I've never eaten it), and, best of all, free limes.....the 3rd and 4th stars are just for the limes. What I don't like about Chipotle is that when you order chips and salsa or chips and guac they never give you enough salsa or guac for the number of chips they give you. Also, the people there work at warp speed preparing burritos to get through the line of people quickly. I feel like if I even stop to breathe instead of telling them the next ingredient that the entire universe will come to a screeching halt and the world will be pointing at me to blame. Seriously...intense pressure.
(4)Andrew W.
The worst chipolte i have been to yet, they are very cheap on the meat on burritos, poor customer service. I will be driving to the greenbelt or laurel one from now on. And I will be complaining to corporate about this location/.
(1)Grace Y.
ok wow. on three separate occasions, i got a chicken burrito bol and all three times it was ridiculously salty. it hurt the inside of my mouth and i actually like salty food. i can eat bags of salt and vinegar chips and not be phased. but lemme tell ya, the rice alone seemed to contain blocks of salt or something. i couldnt eat more than a few bites, what a waste! ive never had this problem at the chipotle in laurel. definitely go there if u get a craving for chipotle. oh n the chips at the cp chipotle definitely taste old and stale compared to the crispier, crunchier laurel chipotle..
(1)Gabriel O.
Good value. Burritos are well-stuffed. Quick and inexpensive, but clean and tasty Mexican food.
(3)Heather R.
Fast service. Every order is correct. Food is fresh and filling.
(4)Louis W.
Chipotle is awesome. A huge burrito costs under $7. Sometimes I ask for double meat and they forget to charge me extra. But if you're unlucky, they'll run out of meat and it's another 10 minutes waiting for it to cook.
(4)Andy F.
Great place, kind of expensive, but worth it for the high food quality... delicious burritos!
(5)Bethany P.
I really love Chipotle. I never get tired of it. They are always so very busy, but the food is never disappointing. They even mix around the inside of the burrito for my boyfriend (don't ask...it's weird) when he asks them. The staff has their moments of being friendly and unfriendly, but hey...we're all people who do people stuff. It's all about the food and I think it's tasty.
(5)Brendan O.
Stopped by after a school tour where I was informed that this location is the second highest grossing in the country, and it shows. There was a line of about 20 people in front of us and we were served in less than 5 minutes. Good food, great price. There was a line all night but they never had a long wait. Two tables outside but most seating indoors, standard bare bones interior. Great consistency makes this a great choice.
(4)Chacha S.
Hands-down the worst Chipotle I've ever been to. It seems like they never clean the tables and chairs. The rice is crunchy. The cashiers don't give you the right change. The corn looks kind of scary.
(2)Praveen N.
Typifies ghetto living, but not much that one can do about it. You become part of it and even start to like it. Actually, the food is okay. You get a large bol - I would say it's a 1 1/2 meal for the price. And if you haven't eaten there in a while (which usually does not happen in CP) it might even appear tasty. There's something about the beans though that my innards rebel against but I've learned to avoid the beans. Like some of the reviewers mentioned, they sometimes skimp on stuff but you can always insist upon more. The staff knew me well as a regular face. I wouldn't go there if there were more choices, but it is what it is and prevents one from starving - evidently, quite popular too although I cannot say if it's by preference or from lack of choice.
